Integrating Harm Reduction in Peer Support

This is a 1-day training designed for individuals interested in becoming Peer Support Specialists. This class is MABPCB APPROVED for 4 CEU’s in the HARM REDUCTION Domain. In this training, participants will:
Define Harm Reduction and discuss how it relates to our work as Peer Supporter
Learn the eight principles of Harm Reduction, and how it is applied in the preservation of the Peer Role
Review a more practical approach to the Stages of Change as it applies to Harm Reduction.
Testing our own biases, defining Implicit biases & what we can do to address them.
Defining stigma, the cycle and attributes of stigma, the effects of stigma, how biases and stigmas work together, and what we can do to combat stigma.
Be able to identify when someone is having an overdose, and learn the proper way to administer Opioid overdose reversal.
Will be able to practice these skills in an interactive way.
